News Topical, Digital Desk : About 2000 people of a village panchayat in Dholpur district of Rajasthan are forced to cross the river in the rainy season by placing a cot on a tube, risking their lives without any paved road.

Bhuura Ka Pura, Baghelon Ka Pura, Barso, Madheya, Panchhi Ka Pura and Mahant Ka Adda are villages of Nunehra Gram Panchayat of Sempau subdivision of Dholpur district which have no road to connect to the town.

 

To reach Tasimo and Sampu towns of Dholpur district, the villagers and students of Bhura Ka Pura, Baghelon Ka Pura, Barso, Madheya, Panchhi Ka Pura and Mahant Ka Adda villages of Nunehra Gram Panchayat have to cover a distance of about ten kilometers. But the villagers and school children cover a distance of about two kilometers by crossing the river.


 

There is a government primary school in the village panchayat, where after completing primary school education, students take admission in the senior secondary school of Tasimo town. Students and other villagers cross the Parvati river by placing a cot on a tube and then go to work and go to school. School children and villagers cross the river by sitting on a cot tied to a tube during the rainy season and when the river dries up, they cross the river on foot.

The villagers have demanded from political representatives and officials to build a bridge over the river to connect the subdivision headquarters Sampu. Students and villagers crossed the river by placing cots on two tubes. Class 10 students Rekha Kumari and Khushboo Kumari said that schools have opened, but we cross the river daily on tubes to go to school.

Villager Hariom Singh said that the local people are forced to cross the river by tying a cot on a tube to go to Tasimo and Sapu town for their daily needs. While some incidents have happened in which local people drowned in the river.

Villager Nemichand Kushwaha said that there is a road to reach Tasimo and Saipau town but the villagers have to cover a distance of about ten kilometers. Locals prefer to reach the town by crossing the river, which is only five kilometers away. 

problem caused by border dispute 

One bank of the Parvati river falls in Dholpur and the other in Bari assembly constituency. Villagers say that due to border dispute, MLAs pass the buck to each other. Villagers say that they have made the district administration, ministers, MLAs and MPs aware of this problem but have received nothing except assurances. Villagers have demanded from the administration that a bridge be built on the river so that school children and villagers do not have to risk their lives.
