
News Topical, Digital Desk : A shocking incident took place on Saturday morning between Sambalpur and Jharsuguda in Odisha. Here, unknown miscreants pelted stones on the Puri-Hatia Tapaswini Express train. This incident happened when most of the passengers were fast asleep. The stone hit the window of the AC coach B-7 of the train, shattering the window glass. This incident happened between Rengali and Jharsuguda railway station at around 5:30 am. The stone hit the window which was near seat number 15. The stone pelting was so strong that the glass of the window broke and scattered inside.

After the incident, the passengers woke up due to the loud sound and informed the coach attendant and ticket checker about it. The incident had a deep impact on the passenger sitting on seat number 15. The attendant of B-7 coach of Tapaswini Express said, "The passenger sitting on seat number 15 was very frightened by this incident. He called me and told me that he heard a loud bang sound, as if someone had fired a bullet. The window glass was completely broken and glass pieces fell on him. There was a mark of a strong collision at one place on the window, which made it look as if someone had fired a bullet".
Investigation into stone-pelting case begins
Although no passenger was seriously injured in this incident, other passengers travelling in the train also got terrified by this incident. Immediately the coach attendant informed the concerned authorities and the passenger was given necessary help and proper arrangements for further journey. At present it is not clear who did the stone pelting and why. Railway Protection Force has started investigating this matter. CCTV footage of nearby stations is being scanned and eyewitnesses are being questioned. This accident has increased concern among the passengers. This incident could have proved to be very dangerous especially for the people travelling in AC coaches.
