According to this Purana, in ancient times, a king named Satya Vikram marched towards the forest after being defeated by his enemies. Satya Vikram was wandering in the Mahakal forest. At that time, he met an ascetic. The ascetic recognized the king with his austerity. Then, King Satya Vikram narrated his ordeal. At that time, the ascetic advised the king to worship Lord Shiva. Later, King Satya Vikram did the penance of Lord Shiva. Pleased with his hard devotion, Lord Shiva gave King Satya Vikram the boon of being invincible. It is said that by seeing Lord Shiva in Neelkantheshwar Mahadev Temple, one gets victory over enemies.
