New information has emerged regarding Nepal's ousted Prime Minister KP Oli. He has now moved out of military security and into a private residence, according to news agency PTI, citing sources.
Oli remained under army protection for 9 days.
Ousted Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli reportedly spent nine days under military protection. He has now been released to his private residence. Oli resigned as Prime Minister on September 9th after a protest led by Jenji turned violent. He immediately moved into an army barracks, believed to be in the Shivapuri forest area north of Kathmandu.
Nepal Army confirmed that after being under army protection for nine days, Nepal Communist Party President and Nepal's ousted PM KP Sharma Oli has been shifted to a private place.
Current address information is unknown to anyone.
However, KP Sharma Oli's current address is unknown. His new address has not yet been officially disclosed. Media reports claim that Oli has moved to a private home in the Gundu area of Bhaktapur district, about 15 km east of Kathmandu.
Oli's house was torched by protesters.
The Genji protests began on September 8. The very next day, protesters burned down Oli's house in Balakot, Bhaktapur.
It is reported that not only Oli, but also former Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda," Sher Bahadur Deuba, Jhalanath Khanal, Madhav Kumar Nepal, and other senior political figures also took refuge under military protection for a few days. Only Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife, former Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba, are reportedly under military protection. The couple sustained injuries during the protests.
Oli's party is preparing to celebrate Constitution Day on September 19.
Meanwhile, the Oli-led CPN-UML is planning a separate event in Chhyal, Lalitpur district, to mark Constitution Day on September 19. However, there is no official information on whether KP Sharma Oli will attend it.
Nepal will celebrate Constitution Day on Ashoj 3 of the Vikram Samvat calendar this year. This year, it falls on September 19th. September 20th marks the coming into effect of the country's Constitution, drafted by the Constituent Assembly in 2015.
