News Topical, Digital Desk : As part of the "Pure Food - Fighting Adulteration" campaign, which aims to provide pure and safe food to the public in the district, the Medical and Food Safety Department took a major action on Saturday, seizing approximately 600 kilograms of substandard cheese and destroying it on the spot . This cheese had been brought from Gujarat for supply to Sirohi district and was being prepared for sale at a low price.
Under the direction of Chief Medical and Health Officer ( CMHO ) Dr. Dinesh Kharari , an intensive campaign is being launched to check the quality of food items in the district. This action was taken in compliance with the instructions of Commissioner of Food Safety and Drug Control, Rajasthan, T. Shubh Mangala .
Paneer was brought from Gujarat in an Eco vehicle.
Food Safety Officers Mukesh Prajapat and Dharamveer Regar, during an inspection on Saturday , stopped an Eco vehicle carrying cheese from Gujarat for supply to Sirohi district. During the inspection, it was found that the vendor did not have a food license, invoice, e-way bill, or other legal documents.
Sour taste and smell, suspicion of adulteration
Upon receiving the information , CMHO Dr. Dinesh Kharari also arrived at the scene. Initial testing revealed the cheese to be sour in taste and smell offensive, raising suspicions of adulteration and poor quality. A mobile food lab was subsequently called to the scene to test the cheese, which was found to be substandard .
Supply was to be made to the hotels on the highway
The investigation revealed that this cheese was to be supplied to various hotels located on the Sirohi Highway. The Food Safety Department team will identify all such hotels where this cheese was supplied or was proposed to be supplied and conduct separate inspections and action.
Destruction by JCB after sampling
The Food Safety team sampled the cheese as per regulations and sent the samples to the Food Safety Laboratory in Jodhpur for testing . Afterward, a JCB machine was called in and the entire 600 kilograms of cheese was destroyed on the spot , to prevent any harm to the public's health.
Strict warning to food traders
CMHO Dr. Dinesh Kharari issued a clear warning to all food traders in the district , asking them to use only high- quality raw materials in food production . Pay special attention to cleanliness and hygiene , and refrain from selling loose oil , spices , or other food items . Strict legal action will be taken against those who manufacture , store , transport , or sell food without a food license .
The campaign will continue
The Food Safety Department has clarified that the "Pure Food - Fighting Adulteration" campaign will continue in the district. The public has also been urged to immediately report adulterated or suspicious food items to the department if they see them.
