News Topical, Digital Desk : There is a political upheaval in Karnataka these days. There is a fierce battle for the post of Chief Minister. Meanwhile, a new controversy has arisen over an old incident of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Actually, a few days ago a video of the Chief Minister went viral on social media. He was seen raising his hand to slap a police officer on the stage. Now the same police officer has demanded retirement from the government.

Four years left till retirement

ASP Narayan Barmani was hurt after this incident. He felt humiliated and decided that he no longer wanted to work in the police. Narayan Barmani has been serving in the police department for the last 31 years and still has four years left for retirement, but he sent a letter to the government and sought voluntary retirement (VRS).

Efforts to persuade started from the government side

ASP Narayan Barmani's demand for voluntary retirement (VRS) has now created a stir in political and administrative circles. After the decision of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Narayan Barmani to take VRS, the Karnataka government has started efforts to persuade him. If sources are to be believed, on the instructions of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Home Minister G. Parameshwara and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil have spoken to Narayan Barmani. He has been offered the post of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in his home district Belgaum. However, Narayan is still adamant on his decision to take VRS.

Clarification from the government regarding the incident

Home Minister G. Parameshwara and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil tried to convince Narayan by talking to him. Home Minister Parameshwara said, "There is nothing like that. We have talked to Narayan. We will give him a suitable posting. We have to understand his intention. The Honorable Chief Minister had no wrong intention. I and Minister H.K. Patil have explained this to him. We are sure that he will be convinced and will be given a posting soon." According to sources, the government has proposed to give Narayan the responsibility of DCP in his home district Belgaum, so that his resentment is removed and he withdraws his VRS decision.

ASP's statement came on the matter

After this, ASP Narayan Barmani, who has sought VRS, has now reacted on this matter. He said, "I have always been disciplined. I have told my feelings to my seniors and the government. My senior officers, Chief Minister and Home Minister have talked to me on this matter. I am now reporting to duty to discharge my regular responsibilities." When asked about his next plan of action, he said, "The government will decide about this."
