News Topical, Digital Desk : Based on complaints received against the recently released song 'Sarke Chunar' from the upcoming film 'KD: The Devil', the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Google India.

A bench headed by NHRC member Priyank Kanoongo took cognizance of a complaint alleging that the song contains obscene and double meaning lyrics, which are not suitable for children in particular.

According to the complaint, the song, available on television, internet media, and digital platforms, could negatively impact the mental health of children. The complaint states that the increasing prevalence of such vulgar lyrics in mainstream entertainment is normalizing inappropriate expressions among youth.

The Commission said that if the allegations are found to be true, it indicates violation of human rights relating to the protection of minors.

On this basis, the NHRC has issued a notice under Section 12 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. The Commission has directed the CBFC Chairperson, the Secretaries of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and the India Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy at Google to investigate these allegations and submit an action taken report within two weeks.
