The protective heat shield saved the spacecraft from burning up. The heat shield is a protective layer that protects the spacecraft from heat when re-entering the atmosphere.
After passing through this region, the spacecraft's speed gradually decreased. At about 5,500 meters above sea level, two small drogue parachutes opened to stabilize the spacecraft. After some time, four large main parachutes opened.
A few minutes later, the spacecraft completed the splashdown process in the Pacific Ocean off the California coast. The landing of a spacecraft in water is called a splashdown.
After splashdown, SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft was taken to the recovery ship 'Shannon', where Shubhanshu and other astronauts came out of the spacecraft in a happy posture. There were medical and technical teams in the recovery ship.
After staying in a state of weightlessness for three weeks on the ISS, the astronauts were helped by the 'ground staff' to walk on their legs to adjust to the gravity on Earth.
