News Topical, Digital Desk : Indian astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla has returned to Earth after successfully landing from the SpaceX Dragon capsule. The duration of this mission, conducted in collaboration with Axiom and NASA, was extended from 14 days to 18 days, during which the crew conducted more than 60 experiments.

Shubhanshu's return was also witnessed by his emotional family in Lucknow, who watched the beautiful landing live. After landing in California, Group Captain Shukla and the crew will undergo a seven-day rehabilitation program to adapt to Earth's gravity. According to sources, pending confirmation, he may return to India on the 25th. Four members of the Axiom-4 mission, including Gaganyaatri Shubhanshu Shukla, returned to Earth from the International Space Station (ISS).
Let us try to understand in 10 points how Dragonyan completed this journey during the 22 and a half hour journey.
- Shubhanshu and three other astronauts boarded the spacecraft about two hours before undocking on Monday and donned their spacesuits.
- The hatch connecting the spacecraft to the ISS was closed at 2:37 pm Indian time on Monday. The spacecraft was inspected.
- After this, SpaceX's Crew Dragon spacecraft separated from the ISS. The undocking process (separation of the spacecraft from the ISS) took place on Monday at around 4:45 pm Indian time.
- After undocking, it fired thrusters to move away from the orbital laboratory. - Traveling at a speed of more than 28 thousand kilometers per hour, the Dragon spacecraft entered the Earth's atmosphere. During this time, due to intense friction, it had to face temperatures of 1600 to 1,900 degrees Celsius.
- The protective heat shield saved the spacecraft from burning up. The heat shield is a protective layer that protects the spacecraft from heat when re-entering the atmosphere.
- After passing through this region, the spacecraft's speed gradually decreased. At about 5,500 meters above sea level, two small drogue parachutes opened to stabilize the spacecraft. After some time, four large main parachutes opened.
- A few minutes later, the spacecraft completed the splashdown process in the Pacific Ocean off the California coast. The landing of a spacecraft in water is called a splashdown.
- After splashdown, SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft was taken to the recovery ship 'Shannon', where Shubhanshu and other astronauts came out of the spacecraft in a happy posture. There were medical and technical teams in the recovery ship.
- After staying in a state of weightlessness for three weeks on the ISS, the astronauts were helped by the 'ground staff' to walk on their legs to adjust to the gravity on Earth.
- The crew of Axiom-4 underwent several medical tests on the ship itself. After this, they were put on a helicopter to go back to the shore. Now the astronauts will have to undergo a rehabilitation program (about seven days) so that they can adapt to the gravity of the Earth.
