News Topical, Digital Desk : Last Saturday, during final exams at Brown University in the US, a suspect entered the campus and began firing indiscriminately. The attacker remained at large and efforts were ongoing to apprehend him. Meanwhile, on Thursday, the body of the suspect was found in a storage unit in Salem, Hampshire.
The suspect reportedly shot himself, according to law enforcement officials. Two weapons were recovered from his possession and evidence matching the crime scene.
The incident took place on December 13 and 15.
It should be noted that on December 13th, two students were killed and nine injured in a mass shooting during an exam at Brown University. Just two days later, on December 15th, Professor Nuno Loureiro, director of MIT's Plasma Science and Fusion Center, was shot and killed at his home in Brookline, near Boston. A connection between the two incidents was subsequently discovered.
An investigation is underway into the relationship between the two incidents.
Investigating authorities believe the suspect is responsible for the Brown shooting and the murder of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor. However, authorities have not yet formally confirmed a connection between the two shootings.
Investigating officials said Thursday that a connection is being investigated between the mass shooting at Brown University and an attack two days later near Boston.
Why was the photo not captured in the CCTV camera?
Brown University officials say there are 1,200 cameras on campus, but the attack occurred in an older part of the engineering building, where there are few or no cameras. Investigators believe the attacker entered and exited through a door that faces a residential street adjacent to campus, which may explain why cameras at Brown University did not capture footage of the man.
