Eight-year-old Naitik, son of Sunny Sonkar, a resident of Badi Gwaltoli, and 11-year-old Samrat, son of Ajaydev, of Lalaram Nagar, were abducted at the time.
The two children had gone to play in the garden with their friends as usual. An unknown woman is suspected of kidnapping the children. The night after the incident, Naitik's mother, Pooja, received multiple phone calls in quick succession, right in front of the police. The police arrested the accused woman within five hours.

A demand of 15 lakh rupees was made in exchange for the release of the children. However, by 1 am, the police arrested the accused, Radhika, in Dutt Nagar. Both children were also recovered.

Five hours later, the police had no concrete clues other than a CCTV footage. The kidnapping occurred around 7:40 p.m. on Thursday. When Naitik (Duggu) and Samrat did not return home by 8 p.m., their family began searching for them.

The police were searching for the children until late at night. Meanwhile, after 11 p.m., an unknown woman called Naitik's mother, Pooja, on her mobile phone via WhatsApp and demanded 1.5 million rupees.
The young woman threatened to take the children far away if the money wasn't arranged. It's being reported that more than ten such calls came in quick succession, all from different numbers.

After this, ACP Tushar Singh spoke with the parents of the kidnapped children and asked them to arrange for the money. The police would then help in rescuing the children. This effort continued until 1 a.m., with the police constantly asking the children's families to arrange for the money. Both children come from poor families. The police's attitude angered the neighborhood. Angry neighbors even questioned police officers about how a poor family could manage such a large sum of money. Together, neighbors and family members arranged for about seven and a half rupees. The children's mothers were inconsolable, weeping.

According to Naitik's uncle, Rahul Sonkar, who showed videos of animals, Naitik and Samrat would go to the park every day to play with their neighborhood friends. According to Rahul, his son, Dhruv, would also play with them.
He told them that a young woman had been coming to the garden every day for the past three or four days. She had even started talking to the children. She told them that she had a variety of animals at home, including puppies, pigeons, white mice, rabbits, and cats. She likely lured the two children with the promise of showing them the animals and playing with them.
Meanwhile, two other children, Lakshya and Shaurya, who were playing with the children, also told the police that a young man also used to come to the garden regularly along with the girl who had kidnapped them.
They showed the children videos on their mobile phones. They showed dogs, cats, and other animals. They told the children that if they came with them, they would give them these animals and even gift them cages.
