News Topical, Digital Desk : The second phase of the Parliament's Budget Session, which begins on Monday, will kick off with a political heatwave as the Lok Sabha begins its debate on a no-confidence motion against Speaker Om Birla. Opposition parties had already moved this no-confidence motion against Birla in the first phase of the session, accusing him of serious bias in the conduct of the House.

Another major political issue in Parliament is the US announcement that it will allow India to purchase oil from Russia amid the US-Israeli war against Iran. Opposition parties are attacking the Modi government, calling this announcement an attack on the country's strategic independence and have explicitly announced that they will raise this issue in Parliament.

The issue of SIR will also resonate

Similarly, the issue of millions of voters being deleted during the Election Commission's controversial special intensive revision of electoral rolls in areas ranging from West Bengal to Tamil Nadu is also significant for opposition parties. Parties ranging from the Trinamool Congress to the DMK are accusing the Election Commission of conducting a campaign to delete millions of voters' names from voter lists at the behest of the BJP.

Infuriated by the denial of Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi to speak during the debate on the President's Motion of Thanks in the Lok Sabha during the first phase of the Budget Session, most opposition parties, including the Congress, submitted a notice of no-confidence against Om Birla, signed by 118 opposition MPs. The Trinamool Congress did not oppose the no-confidence motion but advocated for dialogue before submitting the notice, and therefore its MPs did not sign it.

No-confidence motion against Birla

Birla refrained from presiding over House proceedings after the no-confidence motion was introduced. However, just before the session began, Trinamool Congress announced its support for the no-confidence motion against Birla. However, the issue of the no-confidence motion is the first agenda item on the agenda at the start of the second session.

The main opposition party Congress has issued a whip to all its Lok Sabha MPs, while the BJP has also issued a whip to the ruling party MPs to be present in the House. However, in view of the Bengal elections, the ruling party will also attack the opposition, especially the Trinamool, over the violation of protocol during President Draupadi Murmu's visit to the state on Saturday. The proceedings of the Lok Sabha will be adjourned from 11 am to 12 noon to pay tribute to the demise of Ricky Singkon, a sitting MP from Shillong.
