News Topical, Digital Desk : The war between Ukraine and Russia has been raging for more than three years. Meanwhile, shocking news has emerged. Ukrainian forces have captured an Indian citizen who was fighting for the Russian army against Ukraine.
The Indian national's name is Mohammad Hussain, and he is 22 years old, according to Ukrainian military officials. Officials said that Majoti Sahil Mohammad Hussain, a resident of Morbi, Gujarat, surrendered to Ukrainian forces after spending only three days on the battlefield.
Officers investigating the case
Meanwhile, the Indian mission in Kyiv is reportedly investigating the veracity of these reports. However, no formal communication has yet been received from Ukraine on this matter.
The Ukrainian military alleges that Hussein initially went to Russia to study. However, he was later arrested for drug trafficking and sentenced to seven years in prison. The Ukrainian brigade said in a statement that he joined the war to avoid prison.
video surfaced
It's worth noting that a video of the Indian citizen has also surfaced. In a post shared by the Ukrainian brigade, Hussein can be seen speaking Russian. Hussein admitted that he enlisted in the Russian army to avoid a prison sentence. The video is rapidly going viral on social media. In the video, Hussein is seen saying, “I wanted to avoid prison, so I signed a contract for a special military operation.”

According to official figures, more than 150 Indians have been inducted into the Russian military since the war began in 2022.
