News Topical, Digital Desk : Peethadhis of various monasteries in Karnataka, under the banner of 'Sanatan Sant Niyoga', met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and demanded a probe by central probe agency NIA in the Dharamsthal case.

According to Rajashekharananda Swamiji, the delegation on Wednesday discussed the ongoing Dharmasthala dispute in which a man, identified as CN Chinnaiya, has claimed to have buried hundreds of bodies, including those of women bearing marks of sexual assault.

Swamiji said Shah assured the delegation that all developments were being closely monitored and a decision would be taken after a Cabinet meeting.

A big conspiracy is going on to tarnish the image of Hindu temples

Swamiji said, "We informed the Union Home Minister about Dharmasthala and we are happy with his assurance. Our delegation tried to explain to him that there is a big conspiracy going on to tarnish the image of Hindu temples by some influential selfish elements inside and outside India, which aims to create fear among the devotees. "He said, "We demanded an NIA investigation into the controversy. "

Amit Shah said this

Shah also hinted at plans to enact new laws to curb misinformation and hate speech against religious institutions and urged leaders to assist in public awareness efforts. Amid growing pressure for an NIA probe, Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara said the state government has already set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and the Centre will have to provide justification for taking any action.

Questioning the logic behind the demand for an NIA probe, Parameshwara said, "We formed an SIT to investigate this. Earlier they (religious leaders) were saying that the SIT probe is not correct. Now they are demanding that the case be handed over to the NIA. Is this also not an investigation?"

He said that on foreign funding, "naturally the Centre will have to look into that aspect because the state government cannot do it."
