News Topical, Digital Desk : Serious allegations have been leveled against a senior officer of Chhattisgarh Police. A woman from Raipur has filed a rape case against Mohammad Yakub Memon, posted as SDOP in Balrampur district. Surguja Police has registered the case on zero and transferred the case diary to Tikrapara Police Station. ASP West Daulat Ram Porte has confirmed the FIR.

According to the information, Yakub Memon was the Tikrapara police station in-charge in the year 2020-21. During that time, the victim lived in his house with her husband as a tenant. The woman alleges that when her husband was out, Memon threatened her and forcibly had physical relations with her several times. The woman complained to Raipur police officials, but an FIR was not registered.

FIR was filed after complaint to IG

Hurt by not getting justice in Raipur, the woman went straight to the Sarguja IG from her house in Naya Raipur. Here she lodged a detailed complaint and also threatened to commit suicide if she did not get justice. Seeing the seriousness of the case, the Sarguja IG immediately ordered to register an FIR and transfer the case diary to Raipur. Now the Tikrapara police will record the woman's statement and investigate further.

Yakub Memon joined the police service in the year 1998. He started his career from Rewa and Satna districts of undivided Madhya Pradesh. After the formation of Chhattisgarh, he was posted in Naxal-affected areas like Bastar, Dantewada, Bijapur, Narayanpur and Rajnandgaon. For his contribution to Naxal eradication, he was awarded the President's Medal in the year 2016 and the President's Commendable Service Medal in 2021.
