Jaipur: Heavy rains in Rajasthan are now wreaking havoc on people. 20 people have died in rain-related incidents in the last 24 hours.
Due to the torrential rain in Jaipur since Monday morning, waterlogging has been seen at many places, due to which life has been disrupted. IMD said that heavy rains may occur in the state on Tuesday as well.
Orange alert for heavy rain in seven districts
At the same time, due to the torrential rains in the state, the Education Department on Monday closed schools in seven districts till further orders, which include Jaipur, Karauli, Bharatpur, Dausa, Sawai Madhopur and Dholpur.
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rains for Jaipur, Dausa, Sawai Madhopur, Tonk and Karauli, while a yellow alert has been issued for Kota, Bundi, Bharatpur, Alwar, Nagaur, Dholpur, Sikar and Ajmer.
Life disrupted due to heavy rain
In view of heavy rains in the state, Meteorological Department officials have warned people not to stand under trees during thunder and lightning storms. According to IMD, heavy rains have been recorded in many parts of Rajasthan till 8.30 am on Monday.
At the same time, in Sawai Madhopur, the embankment of the dam broke due to the strong flow of water at 3 am on Monday morning, due to which about three to four feet of water filled the surrounding areas with the strong flow.
