HD quality cameras will be installed in train coaches
All the CCTV cameras installed in the coaches are of HD quality, in which recordings of at least one month can be saved. Panic buttons will be installed in new coaches
The Railways is planning to install CCTV cameras in the coaches of all express trains in the next two years. Keeping in mind the challenges of women's safety during travel, it has been made mandatory to install panic buttons in all the coaches being built now, which will also be connected to a mobile app, so that in case of emergency, the passenger can send an alert from the mobile as well. Arrangements for face recognition technology, CCTV surveillance and crowd control teams are being made at all the smart stations being built in the country.
Deployment of women staff in waiting rooms is being made compulsory. Focus is being increased on sensitive stations. More than seven hundred stations are in the list of 'sensitive or super-sensitive' stations, where more number of women RPF are being deployed.
Decision taken to control crime during travel
Railway's Executive Director (Information) Dilip Kumar said that an integrated strategy has been made to control crime during train travel. It is being expanded to a great extent. Each team has at least two members. Their job is to monitor the rail journey from start to finish. One team is deployed in every long distance train. The number is also increased if needed. So far it is active at two hundred stations.
