The Radha Rani temple of Barsana is situated on a high hill, which is called Barsana ka Matha. Its height is about 250 meters. When devotees climb up the stairs, they feel devotion and enthusiasm at every step.

As soon as you reach the top, you get a divine atmosphere. The huge courtyard of the temple, the sound of bells, bhajans and kirtans and the fragrance of flowers fill the mind with amazing peace and joy. Here Radha Rani is called Ladli Ji, and devotees offer their love and devotion at her feet.

Birth of Radha Rani

Radha ji's father's name was Vrishbhanu ji and mother's name was Kirti ji. She was born on the Ashtami of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month, which comes about 15 days after Shri Krishna Janmashtami. On this day, a grand celebration takes place in Barsana. The temple is decorated with flowers, special decoration is done and fifty-six offerings are offered to Radha ji.

On this occasion, devotees express their devotion to Radha Ji by calling her Laadli Ji through songs, hymns and dance.

Major festivals of Ladli Ji Temple

The Radha Rani temple of Barsana is filled with devotion and gaiety throughout the year, but some festivals are celebrated here with special pomp –

  • Radha Ashtami - This is Radha Ji's birthday. On this day, Radha Rani is specially adorned in the temple. Crowds of devotees throng, Bhajans and Kirtans reverberate and the temple premises are filled with the fragrance of a shower of flowers.
  • Krishna Janmashtami - On the birthday of Shri Krishna, there are wonderful decorations here. Swings of Radha-Krishna are decorated and the devotees remain immersed in devotion the whole night.
  • Lathmar Holi - The most famous tradition of Barsana. On this day women playfully beat men with sticks and men protect them with shields. Thousands of people from India and abroad come here to see this scene. Barsana's Holi is a Holi of colors and love.
  • Holi of flowers and Rang Panchami - The Holi of flowers in Barsana and Vrindavan is unique. Here instead of colors, there is a shower of fragrant flowers. In temples, devotees shower flowers with love and devotion. This scene makes the atmosphere divine, as if heaven has descended on earth.
