News Topical, Digital Desk : Firopur News: Elections for the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samitis are scheduled to be held in the Firozpur district of Punjab on December 14, 2025. The results of these elections will be declared on December 17, 2025. To maintain law and order during the elections, the district administration has issued several strict orders. In particular, carrying weapons in the constituency is prohibited.
District Magistrate issued instructions
District Magistrate Ferozepur, Deepshikha Sharma, has issued instructions that arms license holders, who have been issued licenses on the recommendation of the District Screening Committee, should immediately deposit their weapons and ammunition with the nearest police station or approved arms dealers. This is to maintain law and order during the elections and prevent any untoward incidents.
People carrying weapons were warned
Under this order, all persons who possess weapons are warned that carrying weapons in their possession is prohibited from entering the constituency during the elections. This step was specifically taken to prevent electoral violence and any kind of tension.
Nawanshahr District Magistrate Ankurjit Singh issued a similar order. He directed under the Indian Civil Security Act that arms license holders cannot carry their weapons during the elections. This order will only be effective until the elections are over.
The district administration appealed to the public
However, certain categories of people have been exempted from this order. These include members of the military, paramilitary forces, police, individuals carrying weapons according to religious customs, bank employees, bank guards, and those receiving security cover from the Indian or Punjab governments. These individuals can possess weapons within their prescribed limits. The district administration has appealed to the public to follow the order and maintain peace during the elections. The administration stated that legal action will be taken against any violations. Thus, the purpose of this order is to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections.
