News Topical, Digital Desk : President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday presented the Diamond Jubilee Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner to the President's Bodyguard (PBG) at a grand ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The honour was given to the PBG for its glorious services of 75 years since it was designated as the President's Bodyguard in 1950.

Veerat (the signature horse of the President's Bodyguard), which will retire from service in 2022, was also present during the ceremony. Following his retirement, Veerat has been adopted by the PBG. This is considered a symbol of the deep bond between soldiers and their horses. Prime Minister Narendra Modi patted this horse on the back during the Republic Day parade on January 26, 2022.

Speaking at the ceremony, the President said, "We are all proud of the PBG" and congratulated the senior-most regiment of the Indian Army for its professional excellence and adherence to the finest military traditions.

The President's Office shared pictures of the meeting in a post on X. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi met President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
