In Sanatan Dharma, the Udaya Tithi is considered. For this, the Tithi is calculated from sunrise. However, for many special pujas, including Pradosh Vrat, the Tithi is not calculated from sunrise. For this, the auspicious time of Pradosh Kaal and Nisha Kaal is considered. For Pradosh Vrat, the auspicious time of evening (Pradosh Kaal) is considered. During this time, i.e. Pradosh Kaal, Lord of Gods, Mahadev and Goddess of the Universe, Mother Parvati are worshipped. According to this calculation, Pradosh Vrat will be observed on October 18.

The conjunction of Shivavas Yoga is forming on the Trayodashi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha (waxing moon) of Kartik month. Additionally, the Abhijit Muhurta coincides with the Pradosh Vrat. During Shivavas Yoga, Lord Shiva will ride Nandi on Kailash. Worshiping Lord Shiva during this Yoga will fulfill a devotee's desires, and will also increase happiness and good fortune.
