
News Topical, Digital Desk : Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) vice president Abdul Awal Mintu on Wednesday announced that BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will contest the upcoming elections. "There is no worry about the elections in the district. Our leader Khaleda Zia is healthy now. She will contest the election. There is no worry about Feni," the vice president said during a programme in Feni district.
Expressing confidence in BNP's victory, he said, "If there are fair elections, BNP will definitely win in Feni as the electoral history of this district has been quite famous."
Hope for first election
He said, 'Given the current situation in the country, elections can be held earlier. It is also possible that it may be held in January. A case related to the caretaker government is currently pending in the Supreme Court. If the court allows the caretaker system to be restored, then this interim government will function as a caretaker government.'
According to the constitution, elections must be held within 90 days under a caretaker government. He said the BNP has faith in the consensus reached during a meeting between the interim government and the party's caretaker president Tariq Rahman in London.
