News Topical, Digital Desk : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet economists and experts on Tuesday to seek their views on the upcoming budget. NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Berri, NITI Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam, and other members of the commission will also be present.

Amid geopolitical uncertainties and the imposition of 50 percent tariffs by the US, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the budget on February 1, 2026. PM Modi is expected to seek suggestions from experts on ways to achieve self-reliance and bring about structural changes in the country, so that India can become a developed country by 2047.

What issues can be discussed?

The Prime Minister is expected to discuss a range of issues, including increasing exports, creating employment, attracting investment, enhancing skill development and women's participation in the country's workforce, as well as focusing on agricultural production.

Such discussions with economists and industry experts are part of the government's pre-budget preparations, aimed at incorporating various inputs before finalising policy decisions.

What is the government's target?

The government aims to make India a global services giant with emphasis on healthcare, education, transport, tourism, professional services, AI, etc.
