The Prime Minister said that a few weeks ago, the state's first high altitude ultra run marathon was organised at Adi Kailash, situated at an altitude of 14,500 feet in Pithoragarh, in which more than 750 athletes from 18 states across the country participated. The 60 km long Adi Kailash Parikrama Run started at 5 am in the freezing cold; despite such cold, the enthusiasm of the participants was worth seeing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that till three years ago, only two thousand people used to visit Adi Kailash every year, now this number has reached 30 thousand.
Winter Games to begin in Uttarakhand
Praising winter tourism in Uttarakhand, the Prime Minister said that in a few weeks, Uttarakhand will also be hosting the Winter Games, in which athletes, adventure lovers, and sports enthusiasts from across the country are excited to participate. Referring to the growing tourism infrastructure in Uttarakhand, he said that Uttarakhand has placed a special focus on connectivity and infrastructure to promote winter tourism. In this regard, the state government has also formulated a new policy for homestays.
