Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh is the first female Rafale pilot. She was commissioned into the fighter pilot ranks in 2015. She is the first Indian woman to fly the French-made single-seater Rafale fighter aircraft. She has served with distinction in the Air Force for nearly two decades. Her husband is also a fighter pilot.
President Murmu flies in Rafale fighter jet
President Draupadi Murmu today flew a Rafale fighter jet from the Air Force Station in Ambala, Haryana. Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh also flew a separate aircraft from the same airbase. Before boarding the Rafale jet, the President donned a G-suit. Holding a helmet and wearing sunglasses, Murmu also posed for photographs with the pilot.
A 'Guard of Honour' was also given.
The President waved from inside the aircraft before the aircraft took off at 11:27 a.m. Upon arrival at the Air Force Station this morning, the President was presented with a ceremonial guard of honor. India used Rafale fighter jets during Operation Sindoor, a response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
