
News Topical, Digital Desk : A senior Pakistan Army officer was killed in a deadly bomb blast carried out by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) in Quetta on Saturday evening. According to initial reports, a vehicle was targeted near Jinnah Road area with the help of a magnetic IED explosive.
Major Anwar Kakar died on the spot in the attack. He was attached to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) cell of the Army's 12 Corps. In the CCTV footage that emerged after the incident, two motorcycle riders can be seen planting a magnetic explosive device on the vehicle. It exploded shortly after.
The protest continues for the fourth consecutive day
According to the Balochistan Post, there were no other casualties apart from the Major. The BLA said that the attack was based on accurate intelligence collected by their internal unit Jirab. The sit-in of family members of forcibly disappeared people and detained Baloch Yakjehti Committee leaders continued for the fourth consecutive day.
Pakistani authorities have stepped up efforts to suppress the protests. They have prevented relatives from reaching the protest site and sealed the roads leading there. Since the protests began, protesters have not been allowed to set up tents or proper camps. However, they have continued their peaceful protests despite facing heavy rains and scorching heat.
