News Topical, Digital Desk : Pakistan has summoned the Norwegian ambassador and lodged an objection over his "unnecessary presence" in court proceedings in a human rights case.

On Thursday, Ambassador Per Albert Ilsas attended Supreme Court proceedings related to controversial internet media posts made by human rights activist Iman Zainab Mazari-Hajir and her husband, Hadi Ali Chattha. His presence in court sparked discussion on the internet media.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the Norwegian ambassador was summoned by the Additional Secretary of State for Europe in the Foreign Ministry regarding his "unnecessary presence" at court proceedings in Islamabad.

He said the ambassador's presence at the court proceedings violated diplomatic protocol and relevant international law. "Given that his actions amount to interference in the country's internal affairs, the ambassador was urged to adhere to established standards of diplomatic conduct, as enshrined in the relevant articles of the Vienna Convention," Andrabi said.
