News Topical, Digital Desk : The BRICS Parliamentary Forum on Friday strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack and resolved to fight terrorism together. Representatives from 10 countries, including China and Iran, attended the meeting of the forum.

 

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla led the Indian parliamentary delegation at the forum's meeting held in Brazil's capital Brasilia on June 4-5. According to an official statement, the 10 BRICS countries condemned the Pahalgam attack and agreed to cooperate on a zero tolerance policy against terrorism.

The next meeting will be held in India and Om Birla has been appointed its chairperson. According to the statement, representatives from India, Brazil, Russia, China, South Africa, Iran, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Ethiopia and Indonesia participated in this year's meeting. Representatives of the parliaments of these countries played an important role in drafting the joint declaration.

 

After several rounds of intense deliberations and discussions in the meeting, a consensus was reached on important issues such as AI, global trade and economy, inter-parliamentary cooperation, global peace and security. India's views on various issues were appreciated by all the countries and were included in the joint declaration by consensus. Especially India's decisive stand on terrorism was taken seriously.

 

India strongly condemned the terrorist attacks and called for zero tolerance against terrorism. Indian policy and leadership were particularly praised at the meeting, and the BRICS parliamentary representatives acknowledged the need for active participation of all countries in maintaining global peace and security.
