News Topical, Digital Desk : Before the festive season, ordering food online may become expensive due to the increase in platform fees by Zomato, Swiggy and Magicpin. This may increase further due to the implementation of 18 percent GST on delivery charges from September 22.

Swiggy has raised its platform fee to Rs 15 including GST in some markets. Zomato has hiked its fee to Rs 12.50 (excluding GST), while Magicpin has set a fee of Rs 10 per order. Estimates suggest that from September 22, Zomato users could incur an additional burden of about Rs 2 and Swiggy customers Rs 2.6.

How much GST do I have to pay?

Swiggy and Zomato did not respond to emails in this regard. A Magicpin spokesperson said that it is already paying 18 percent GST on its food delivery costs. The recent change will not have any impact.
