News Topical, Digital Desk : Debt-ridden Munchun Kewat, frustrated by the lack of support from his in-laws and calls from his creditors, had already plotted to murder his wife. He had purchased a jackfruit-cutting knife two days before the incident. While slitting his wife's throat on the day of the incident, his elder daughter woke up and started crying. Fearing exposure, he then killed the three innocent children, including his eldest daughter.

He had thrown the knife used in the crime on his way to the station. Outer-North District Deputy Commissioner of Police Hareshwar V. Swami said that after his arrest, the accused, Munchun, told police that he had borrowed approximately 3 lakh rupees from Mithlesh, a resident of Mokimpur in his native village, Patna. He had also borrowed approximately 10 lakh rupees from other people. He had lost a total of 13 lakh rupees in online betting.

For the past few days, Mithlesh had been calling his wife, Anita, pressuring her to return the money. On February 23rd, he called Munchun and told him that if he couldn't return the money, he should hand over his wife and daughters to him. Anita would stay with him, while he would make the daughters work. That same day, he plotted to murder his wife. He bought a jackfruit-cutting knife from Azadpur Mandi for 90 rupees, took it home, and hid it.

Police investigation revealed that he had returned home from Azadpur Mandi on Tuesday afternoon. That evening, he did some Holi shopping. Then, at night, he waited for everyone to go to bed. He then slit his wife's throat while she was sleeping, but at that moment, his eldest daughter woke up and started crying. He then slit the throats of all three daughters as well.

He then reached the GT Karnal Highway by e-rickshaw early Wednesday morning. From there, he took an auto to New Delhi Railway Station and boarded the Shatabdi train without a ticket to Kishangarh Mandi, where he was hiding. The Samaypur Badli police arrested him there on Saturday.

Munchun wanted to commit suicide

During interrogation, the accused, Munchun, revealed that after killing his wife and three daughters, he had decided to commit suicide. That's why he went to Badli railway station to throw himself in front of a train. However, after reaching the station, he changed his mind and took the Shatabdi train to the vegetable market in Kishangarh, where he had worked six years ago.

The police arrested him within 72 hours after scanning 800 CCTV cameras.

Given the gravity of the case, a massive technical investigation was carried out under the leadership of Special CP Law and Order Ravindra Singh Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police Hareshwar V Swami, Samaypur Badli SHO Shailendra Singh Jakhar, Anti-Narcotics Cell Inspector Gaurav Chaudhary, AATS Inspector Pramod Kumar and Special Staff Inspector Anand Kumar Jha, which included analysis of over 800 CCTV cameras and use of Facial Recognition System (FRS) technology.
