News Topical, Digital Desk : Former Capacity Building Commission (CBC) chief Adil Zainulbhai said the agenda and goals of the Centre's ambitious capacity building programme for the country's bureaucrats were set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself. He had once even asked whether any training scheme had been prepared for them or not?
Zainulbhai, who was the chairman of the Quality Council of India (QCI), was appointed chairman of CBC on April 1, 2021. Recently, after completing four years, he resigned from this important post.
Capacity Building Commission was established in 2021
Zainulbhai said, ‘The Prime Minister set the agenda and encouraged us. He set a very high target and asked us to do something. When I gave him the first update, he said that one important thing is missing, that you have not made any training plan for me.’
The Capacity Building Commission, established in 2021, operates the national program for civil service capacity building 'Mission Karmayogi'. The capacity building of government officials under Mission Karmayogi aims to enhance their attitude, skills and knowledge through role-based training.
Focus on competency building of civil servants
Mission Karmayogi aims to bridge the gap between various government ministries/departments and encourage collaborative joint efforts towards shared national goals and priorities. Speaking about his tenure in the Commission, Zainulbhai said that CBC was started as a vision of the Prime Minister and initially focused on capacity building of civil servants, becoming citizen-centric and advancing technology.
He said, 'What has been achieved is just a beginning, there is still a lot to be done.' Jainulbhai said that many countries want access to Mission Karmayogi and the digital platform and its courses for capacity building of their civil servants. He further said, 'The Prime Minister has promised this to Caribbean and African countries.'
