
News Topical, Digital Desk : While granting bail to a woman arrested on charges of kidnapping, a Mumbai court said that the child should not be deprived of her mother's affection by keeping her away from her. The accused woman is the mother of a seven-year-old girl. Since the woman's arrest, the girl has been living in a children's home in Andheri area. She has not met her mother for three years.
The case pertains to the kidnapping of a seven-year-old girl in 2013. The kidnapped girl was reunited with her biological parents after almost a decade while the accused woman and her husband were arrested in 2022. Additional Sessions Judge SM Taklikar (Dindoshi Court) granted bail to the accused woman, saying that she has been deprived of the company of her daughter as she has been in jail for the last three years without any hearing.

The girl has not met her parents for the last three years. There is no doubt that she is admitted in Bal Bhavan where she is being taken care of and provided protection. The court said, 'A seven-year-old girl shall not be deprived of the affection of her natural guardian.'
According to the prosecution, the mother of the kidnapped girl had lodged a kidnapping report at DN Nagar police station in Mumbai on January 22, 2013, when her seven-year-old daughter did not return home from school. She was not found until August 3, 2022. One day, a neighbour of the victim received a video call from an unknown woman in which a girl resembling the missing girl was seen.
Jailed for kidnapping
The neighbour identified the girl as the victim's daughter. Following the location obtained from the video, the woman reached the spot where she found her daughter. Narrating her ordeal, the victim said that the accused woman and her husband had taken her with them in 2013 by promising to give her ice cream.
Later they took her to Goa and kept her there for several months. After this they came to Vile Parle in Mumbai, took a rented house and stayed there for four months. Then they took her back to Goa. The accused also got her admitted to a school in Karnataka and kept her there for a year. In 2015, they came to Mumbai and have been living here since then.
