News Topical, Digital Desk : The Telangana cabinet has decided in principle to remove the rule disqualifying people with more than two children from contesting local body elections. Speaking to the media after the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday, Revenue Minister P Srinivas Reddy said the state government has decided to organise 'Praja Palan-Praja Vijayotsavam' celebrations from December 1 to 9 to mark the completion of two years of the Congress government in the state.

What else did the Revenue Minister say?

The minister said, "The Cabinet reconsidered the lifting of the ban on candidates having more than two children contesting local body elections. At a time when population control measures are being strictly implemented, there is no need to impose the ban. Such a view was expressed in the Cabinet meeting. Therefore, the Cabinet agreed in principle to lift the ban."

3 new agricultural colleges approved, major decision on metro expansion also

The meeting approved the establishment of three new agricultural colleges, which will be located in Huzurnagar, Kodangal, and Nizamabad. It also decided to expedite the expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail. The government has decided to form a committee of senior officials to study the possibility of acquiring Phase 1 of the Metro Rail project from L&T.
