Bengaluru: The Karnataka unit of the Congress has decided to hold a state-wide protest on Monday against Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on Saturday giving sanction to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) plot allotment scam.

Rallies will be taken out in all districts

The Chief Minister has denied the allegations and said that he will fight it legally. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress President DK Shivakumar said on Sunday that rallies will be organised in all district headquarters across the state. All party leaders and workers will participate in it.

Congress Legislature Party meeting on 22nd

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has called a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party on August 22. Sources said the chief minister will apprise the Congress MLAs of the facts and prepare a strategy to fight the case legally and politically. Karnataka Information Technology Minister Priyank Kharge told reporters that since there is a lot of uproar over the role of the governor, we need to make our people aware of the matter.

Siddaramaiah will go to High Court

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will file a petition in the High Court on Monday against the Governor's decision to allow prosecution against him in the MUDA scam. Sources said that senior Supreme Court lawyers Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Kapil Sibal will come to Bengaluru on Monday and file a petition on behalf of Siddaramaiah challenging the order of Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot.
