The mosque side has approached the Supreme Court against the Allahabad High Court's order to consider 18 cases related to the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah dispute in Mathura as admissible for hearing. The mosque side had challenged the arguments of the temple side in the High Court to consider the cases admissible for hearing. But, the High Court rejected their petition.

Challenging the High Court order

The petition challenging the August 1 order of the High Court has been filed in the Supreme Court by the Management Trust Committee of Shahi Masjid Idgah through advocate RHA Sikander. Sikander said that the petition is likely to be heard next week.

Allahabad High Court had rejected the petition

It is noteworthy that on August 1, the Allahabad High Court dismissed a petition challenging the maintainability of 18 cases related to the temple-mosque dispute in Mathura and ruled that there is a need to determine the "religious character" of Shahi Idgah.

The High Court had rejected the argument of the mosque side that the cases filed by Hindu litigants related to the dispute over the Shahi Idgah Mosque complex adjacent to the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple violate the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act. Therefore, these cases are not admissible for hearing.
