News Topical, Digital Desk : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday (August 09, 2025) accused the Congress of trying to give a new identity to the infiltrators. He said that if the Congress loves them so much then why doesn't it send them to Rahul Gandhi's house.
Sarma claimed that Congress state president Gaurav Gogoi had recently referred to the infiltrators as 'na Assamese' (new Assamese). "If he has said so, he should give them space in his house because there is no place for them in our house," he said.
'Where will we be able to provide facilities to the new Assamese'
Interacting with reporters during an event, he said that there are not enough resources or space for the original Assamese, so where can the new Assamese be accommodated. CM Sarma said, "We do not have land, space or houses and we cannot provide adequate facilities to the Assamese. How can we provide facilities to these so-called new Assamese?"
'The campaign to clear the encroached land will continue'
"If Gogoi is so concerned about them, he should send these people to Rahul Gandhi's house," the chief minister said, adding that the drive to clear the encroached land will continue.
He said, "The eviction drive will continue. The BJP will return to power after the assembly elections next year and even then the eviction will continue." Further, he said, 'Wherever we find illegal intruders, they will be driven back.'
