News Topical, Digital Desk : A husband pushed his wife to death in front of a speeding local train at Mumbai's Mulund station on Saturday.

The accused, Raju Gupta (42), committed the crime in front of his 13-year-old son, who witnessed the entire incident. After the murder, Raju fled to Surat with his son. He was subsequently arrested there by the Government Railway Police (GRP).

According to police, Raju Gupta, an electrician by profession, frequently quarreled with his wife, Pushpa. The domestic discord escalated to the point where Pushpa filed a non-cognizable (NC) complaint against Raju at the Mulund police station on February 13th.

A few days later, she took her elder son (15 years old) to their ancestral village in Uttar Pradesh. She intended not to return to Mumbai, as her elder son was taking his Class 10 board exams in Uttar Pradesh. Her younger son remained in Mumbai with Raju.

Brother made peace

Some time later, Pushpa's brother, Kamlesh Kumar, returned home on leave. He is a soldier in the Indian Army. He tried to mediate a reconciliation between the two and brought Pushpa and her eldest son back to Mumbai. This happened on March 14th.

But even after returning to Mumbai, the family feud didn't end. After another fight, Pushpa filed a second NC complaint against Raju and decided to leave Mumbai with her brother, Kamlesh, and her eldest son.

The final fight broke out at the station.

Pushpa, Kamlesh, and their eldest son arrived at Mulund station. They booked local train tickets to visit a relative in Kalwa. On the platform, Kamlesh checked his wallet and discovered that his ATM card, PAN card, and Army ID card were missing.

He immediately called Raju, who confessed that he had all the cards. Kamlesh asked Pushpa to wait at the station and returned home with his eldest son to collect the cards.

Brother and son locked in the house

Upon reaching home, a heated argument broke out between Raju and Kamlesh. It escalated into a physical altercation. With the help of his younger son, Raju locked Kamlesh and his older son in a room and left with his younger son.

When Kamlesh raised an alarm, neighbors opened the door and pulled him out. Kamlesh went straight to the Mulund police station and filed a complaint against Raju, alleging that he had stolen his important documents. The police summoned Raju to the police station, but Raju hung up.

Push in front of the train

Meanwhile, Raju and his 13-year-old son went straight to Mulund station. There, they tried to persuade Pushpa to stay in Mumbai. But Pushpa flatly stated that she could no longer tolerate the harassment and wanted a divorce.

Enraged, Raju pushed Pushpa in front of a down local train headed for Kalyan. Pushpa died on the spot. After the murder, Raju went to Vangaon station with his younger son and boarded a train to Surat.

Arrested from Surat

The GRP team acted swiftly and arrested Raju in Surat. Police said the younger son was also with the accused and witnessed the entire incident. The investigation is ongoing.

The police are also investigating whether there was any other reason behind this murder apart from domestic dispute.
