News Topical, Digital Desk : Relief and rescue work is going on on a war footing in the terrible disaster that struck Dharali and Harshil in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Helicopters have made more than 260 rounds so far, in which more than 12 people were rescued safely. Due to bad weather, heli operations resumed after 9:45 am, which accelerated the relief work.

Heli service is proving to be a boon in this disaster. Food and relief material is being delivered from Matli helipad to Harshil, while the needy are being brought to Matli from the affected areas.

Rescue and relief operations intensified

On the instructions of the state government, 8 helicopters have been deployed from Matli helipad and Army's Chinook, MI, ALH and Cheetah helicopters from Chinyalisaur. 260+ rounds of these have been made in Dharali area and the work is going on. Food items and relief kits are being delivered to the affected people. While many people are still stranded, and the search for the missing people is going on.

Damage and assessment

After this disaster, Gangotri Dham is deserted, where pilgrims are missing. The army camp in Harshil has suffered heavy damage, many soldiers are missing. There has been extensive damage in Dharali village as well, for which the state government has constituted a 3-member committee to assess it. The committee will soon submit the report to the government.

The central government is also concerned about this disaster in Uttarakhand. PM Narendra Modi constantly contacted CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and also discussed with state BJP president Mahendra Bhatt. CM Dhami is on the spot every moment, monitoring the relief work.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is constantly monitoring the relief and rescue operations. After the visit on Saturday, he has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to all the disaster victims. Apart from this, the officials have been instructed to normalize the situation as soon as possible.
