New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear on Monday the petition of Mamata government against the decision of Calcutta High Court to grant bail to West Bengal Student Society leader Sayan Lahiri In the petition, a demand has been made to cancel the order of release of Sayan Lahiri on bail.

Calcutta High Court granted bail to Sayan Lahiri 

A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra will hear the case. It is worth noting that on Friday, the Calcutta High Court had ordered the release of West Bengal Student Society leader Sayan Lahiri on bail.

Sayan Lahiri played an important role in the Nabanna March 

Sayan Lahiri has been claimed to be one of the organisers of the rally that was held on August 27 to the state secretariat Navanna Bhavan to protest against the rape and murder of a female doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

Police said Lahiri was arrested on the evening of August 27 for playing an active role in leading the rally. Police claim that during the rally, public and private properties were damaged and police officers were also attacked.
