New Delhi. Protests are going on across the country against the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Meanwhile, the mother of Nirbhaya, the victim of the 2012 Delhi gang rape case, has demanded the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Nirbhaya's mother said that CM Mamata Banerjee has failed to handle the situation after the protests against the rape and murder of the doctor.

Mamata Banerjee is trying to divert attention

Speaking to news agency PTI, Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of trying to divert people's attention by protesting. Let us tell you that CM Banerjee had held a rally in Kolkata in which the demand for death penalty for the culprits of the rape case was made.

CM Banerjee is not using her rights

Asha Devi said, "Instead of using her authority to take action against the culprits, Mamata Banerjee is trying to mislead the public."

Strict action should have been taken against the culprits

He said, "She herself is a woman. She should have taken strict action against the culprits by discharging her responsibility as the head of the state. She should resign because she has failed to handle the situation."

Cruelties will continue to happen in the country

Asha Devi further said that until the central and state governments are serious about getting speedy punishment for rapists from the court, such atrocities will keep happening every day across the country. She said that when girls are not safe in Kolkata's medical college and such brutality is done with them, then the condition of women's safety in the country can be understood.
