Imphal: Militants dropped bombs using drones on a village in Manipur's Imphal West district. Police said on Monday that the militants opened indiscriminate fire from the hilly terrain towards the valley areas of Kotruk and Kadangband on Sunday. Manipur police claimed that the militants used rocket-propelled grenades and drones in the attack. The militants had reached the outskirts of Kotruk village.

The militants burnt five vacant houses. After this incident, the security forces chased away the militants. Two people including a woman were killed and nine others were injured in this attack by militants on Sunday. The Manipur government has ordered the state police to conduct a search operation in the areas adjoining Imphal West district. Meanwhile, the state BJP MLA Rajkumar Imoh said that despite the presence of about 60 thousand central forces in Manipur, peace is not coming.

Urge to cancel SOO agreements with these groups

Therefore, central forces should be withdrawn from the state. It is worth noting that Imoh is the son-in-law of the state Chief Minister Biren Singh. In a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Imoh Singh said that state security personnel should be allowed to take charge. He admitted that due to lack of cooperation with the state government and the public, some units of Assam Rifles were recently withdrawn. Imoh Singh also called upon the central government to take strict action against those militant and rebel groups who have violated the rules of the Operation Suspension (SOO) agreement. He urged Shah to cancel the SOO agreement with these groups.

Central government attacks the use of drones in militant attacks

Congress raises questions on Centre's 'silence' on drone attacks in Manipur Congress has attacked the Central Government over the use of drones in militant attacks. Congress asked, why is the Central Government silent on this issue. Former Chief Minister and Congress Legislature Party leader Ibobi Singh said that if bombs are dropped with the help of drones, then it is a question of national security. He said, who will protect the lives and property of the people?

Why is the central government silent on such acts? Where is the democratically elected government in the state? The latest developments in Kotruk show that the modern technology used in the Ukraine and Israel war is now being used in Manipur. He said, this is now a question of national security. Are the Raj Bhavan and the Chief Minister's bungalow safe from drone attacks? If these two premises are not safe, what will happen to the rest? The state government has come to know about the incident of attack on unarmed villagers using drones, bombs and sophisticated weapons, the Home Department said in a statement.
