Bengaluru, : A complaint has been filed against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the MP-MLA Special Court. The Chief Minister has been accused of defrauding the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) of more than Rs 68 crore.
This is a new crisis for Siddaramaiah, who is facing charges in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case. The Chief Minister approached the High Court against Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's order to prosecute in the MUDA case.
The court reserved the case
The court has reserved its order in this case. Senior BJP leader and RTI activist NR Ramesh on Friday submitted a complaint and demanded the special court to register a criminal case against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and others. He said, during Siddaramaiah's previous tenure from 2013 to 2018, complaints were registered against the government with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and Lokayukta agencies.
Accused of advertising the achievements of the state government
It was alleged that the BBMP had put up advertisements of the state government's achievements on 493 bus stops owned by it without paying a fee of Rs 68.14 crore to the BBMP. Ramesh has said that after becoming the Chief Minister for the second time, Siddaramaiah used his influence and got the case closed without notification.
