Bengaluru: ISRO on Monday said that Earth Observation Satellite-8 (EOS-8) will be launched on August 16. It will be launched from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota through a Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV)-D3 flight. Earlier it was said that the launch would take place on August 15. The reason for the delay has not been given.
ISRO gave information by tweeting
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) posted on X that SSLV-D3/EOS-08 Mission: The launch of the SSLV flight is scheduled on August 16. The objectives of the EOS-08 mission include designing and developing a microsatellite.
It will carry three payloads
EOS-08 will carry three payloads. These include Electro Optical Infrared Payload (EOIR), Global Navigation Satellite System-Reflectometry Payload (GNSS-R) and CIC UV Dosimeter. The EOIR payload is designed to capture images for satellite-based surveillance, disaster monitoring, environmental monitoring.
This will work GNSS-R
GNSS-R will demonstrate remote sensing capability for sea surface wind analysis, soil moisture estimation, flood detection. SIC UV Dosimeter will monitor ultraviolet radiation in Gaganyaan mission. SIC UV Dosimeter will monitor ultraviolet radiation in Gaganyaan mission.
