Attempt to defraud Rs 500 in the name of CJI

After cases of people being duped through messages and calls, now a fake message of 'CJI' is going viral. In which money is being demanded to book a cab. According to a post on social media platform X, a person claiming to be Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud has tried to dupe people of Rs 500.

Supreme Court took action

As soon as the viral post surfaced, the Supreme Court itself took cognizance and registered a complaint of cyber fraud on the instructions of the Chief Justice. Recently, many cases of cyber fraud have come to light, where people have lost lakhs of rupees by falling prey to many digital methods by criminals.

Cyber ​​fraud cases are increasing rapidly

Recently RBI has proposed to set up a 'Digital Payments Intelligence Platform', which will have advanced technologies to reduce the risks of payment fraud. According to the annual report released by the Reserve Bank (RBI) on May 30, the number of financial frauds reported by banks has increased rapidly, rising 166 percent year-on-year to 36,075 cases in the financial year 2023-24.
