New Delhi: If you ride a bike without a helmet at any intersection in Delhi, you are immediately fined. Its message also reaches your phone. There are many arrangements for law and order, but there are places in the country where people are shot in broad daylight. Bombs are exploded. Those who want development are beaten up till they die. The residents of Bastar division of Chhattisgarh have been facing all this for the last four decades.

After a silent protest at Jantar Mantar and a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Bastar residents reached the JNU campus on Friday to share their pain with the countrymen. They shared their ordeal with students and teachers and demanded justice for the coming generations.

A member of the Bastar Peace Committee narrated his ordeal

Maghu Ram Kavade, a member of Bastar Shanti Samiti, said that 40 years ago, where the sounds of drums and mandar could be heard, there was prosperity, after the arrival of Naxalites, there is an atmosphere of fear, exploitation and terror. Jairam Das said that the tribal brothers and sisters have been living with their culture and tradition for centuries in the Bastar division. Four decades ago, Maoists came from Telangana (then Andhra Pradesh). They started destroying the culture. They put a ban on believing in gods and goddesses. They also stop people from going to Devgudi. They instruct people to believe in Marx, Lenin and Mao.

He further said that there are no schools for children, no hospitals for women. IEDs explode anywhere while walking on the road. There is fear even in bringing wood from the forest. Naxalites pick up anyone sleeping at night. They shoot fathers in front of their sons and sons in front of their fathers.

The so-called intellectuals who support Maoism should be asked why they did not see the sufferings of the people of Bastar. The students directly interacted with the Naxal victims. On this occasion, writer and member of Bastar Peace Committee Rajeev Ranjan, ABVP JNU President Rajeshwar, Secretary Shikha Swaraj etc. were present.

Son shot in front of his mother, stomach ripped open

Kedarnath Kashyap of Konda village in Bastar had gone to the market with his brother Rupendra Kashyap on March 12, 2014. Suddenly the Naxalites arrived and opened fire on his brother. Two bullets hit his chest and the third pierced his elbow and hit Kedarnath's thigh. Both the brothers ran in different directions. His brother fell after going some distance. The Naxalites fired three more bullets. When they saw that he was breathing, they pulled out his intestines with a knife. Mother Radha Kashyap kept begging for her son's life, but the Naxalites did not show any mercy.

When he returned after earning money, he lost his legs in a blast

Guddu Lekham of Bijapur is just 18 years old. He left his studies and went to Andhra Pradesh to earn money. He returned to his village on March 11. He was going for a walk with his friend Aitod Poyam on Marnar beach when he stepped on an IED laid by the Naxals. Both were badly injured in the powerful blast. When he regained consciousness in the hospital, his right leg was missing.

Amit Shah became emotional after meeting Naxal victims from Bastar

Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah became emotional after listening to the plight of Naxal victims of Bastar. While witnessing the documentary 'Suno Naxalite, Hamari Baat' on social media, which describes the pain of Naxal victims, Shah said that the wounds of these people, victims of violence in Naxal-affected areas, are a living symbol of the inhumanity and cruelty of Naxalism.

No one has yet shown the human rights of people suffering from Naxalism

Describing Naxalism as the only ideology of destruction and violence, he reiterated his commitment to completely eradicate it by 31 March 2026. While meeting Naxal victims from Bastar at his residence, Amit Shah said that there has been a lot of discussion about the human rights of Naxalites who carry weapons and kill innocent people. But no one has seen the human rights of people suffering from Naxalism till now. According to him, the ordeal of Naxal victims of Bastar will serve to open the eyes and ears of those who talk about human rights.

Amit Shah assured help

During the meeting, the Naxal victims told Amit Shah about the hardships faced by them due to Naxals. Many victims who have become disabled for life after coming in contact with IEDs planted by Naxals in the forests, demanded a better rehabilitation plan. Shah assured that the Modi government and the Chhattisgarh government will jointly come up with a plan for the overall development of Naxal victims in three months.
