News Topical, Digital Desk : Aligarh's health department is currently in the news for negligence, with doctors' negligence resulting in women who became pregnant despite undergoing sterilization. Surprisingly, instead of taking action against those responsible, the Aligarh CMO is highlighting the benefits of having children.
In fact, a major negligence by the health department has come to light in Aligarh. Despite undergoing sterilization under the family planning program in 2025, 64 women in the district became pregnant again. The department has initiated the compensation process for these cases. However, the claims of five women have been rejected due to non-compliance with the rules.
5 claims were rejected
According to Aligarh CMO Dr. Neeraj Tyagi, the department has received compensation for 62 cases so far following appeals by women who became pregnant after sterilization. Five claims from six blocks have been rejected. According to the rules, pregnancy must be reported to the department within 90 days.
In the year 2025, the figure of women was 99 percent
Let us tell you that among the rejected claims, there are two cases each from Lodha and Chharra. Akrabad, Jawan, Tappal, and Gonda have one case each. In 2024, 6,240 women and men underwent sterilization. In 2025, 3,042 men and women underwent sterilization. Of these, 99% were sterilized by women. The CMO is now telling women to take advantage of the schemes to hide his failure.
What does Dr. Neeraj Tyagi, CMO Aligarh say?
Aligarh CMO said, "Whenever we sterilize a man or woman, we make them fill a consent form, in which everything is explained to them clearly that if even after this you feel that there is a possibility of pregnancy, then you should get it checked immediately. If pregnancy is confirmed then you can continue, otherwise after whatever medical treatment is done, the sterilization process is again carried out through other means."
