News Topical, Digital Desk : The US space agency NASA has canceled the first spacewalk of the year. NASA is also considering recalling the crew aboard the International Space Station ahead of schedule.
Why did NASA cancel the spacewalk?
NASA made this decision due to a medical issue involving a crew member aboard the space station. According to NASA, the spacewalk was scheduled for Thursday but has been postponed due to medical concerns related to one of the astronauts.
NASA did not identify the astronaut. NASA said the crew member is now in stable condition but is actively evaluating all options, including premature termination of the mission.
NASA spokeswoman Sheryl Warner said, "Conducting our missions safely is our top priority." The four-member crew from the US, Japan and Russia has been continuing its work aboard the orbiting laboratory since August after lifting off from Florida.
