After the incident of carrying the body of a young man who lost his life in the accident from the hospital to the post-mortem house in an e-rickshaw came to light, the health department of the state took it seriously and ordered an immediate investigation. After this incident came to light, now Health Secretary Dr.R. Rajesh Kumar has termed this incident as extremely shameful and inhuman and has said that such negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Investigation orders have also been issued in this case, and a three-member committee has been formed for the investigation. This committee will be headed by the Director General of Health, while the other members will be Director Administration and Director Health Kumaon Division. The committee has been instructed to submit its report by May 30.
Health Secretary R Rajesh Kumar has sought a detailed report from
CMO of Nainital and CMS of Ramnagar Hospital by May 26. It has been deemed necessary to know why there was no vehicle or ambulance facility in the hospital to carry the dead body so that the body could be properly transported to the post-mortem house.
Dr. Rajesh Kumar said that our responsibility is not limited to saving lives, but it is our constitutional and moral responsibility to treat people with respect even after death. He said that strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty in this case.
'Such an incident should not be repeated'
He further said that the Chief Medical Officers of all the districts have been directed to review the arrangements for hearse vehicles in the hospitals of their respective areas and ensure that such incidents do not happen again. He also said that the intention of the state government is not limited to medical service only, but maintaining respect and dignity till the last journey is also the priority of the government. If such an incident is found again, strict action will be taken against the responsible officer.
