Tikait replied that no one knows who Meenakshi was, while the entire country knows Atal Bihari Vajpayee because he was the Prime Minister. He expressed no objection to the renaming.

Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait said, "They invoke the name of a Hindu organization and then go to Atal Chowk and eat meat. In a day or two, their Sutaai campaign will begin. Anyone caught wearing a tilak and eating meat there will face action." Tikait further stated that such acts are tarnishing the country's image abroad and increasing tensions between different communities.
