News Topical, Digital Desk : A Muslim family has reverted to Sanatan Dharma amid chanting of Vedic mantras. Manendra Singh of Darsenda village in the hilly region declared himself and his family as Hindus on Friday. His wife, Shabnam, was renamed Sapna Singh.
Manendra explained that his grandfather, Shahzad Singh, converted to Islam after marrying a Muslim woman. He, too, married a Muslim woman, Shabnam, but he himself never went to pray and named his three children Sonam, Suhani, and Ayush Singh. Most of his family, including his uncle, grandfather, and brothers, are Muslim.
Manendra said that he had long been determined to return to Hinduism. On Wednesday, in the presence of saints from Shantikunj Haridwar, Gayatri Shaktipeeth Chitrakoot, and Bada Math, a havan (sacred ritual) and sacred thread ceremony were performed, after which the entire family accepted Hinduism.
