News Topical, Digital Desk : Police in Mumbai have arrested an artist and two women who allegedly orchestrated a digital arrest. The women allegedly threatened a real estate developer with false charges against his son and extorted ₹1.5 crore from him.

Regarding this matter, officials said that both the women were arrested by the Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) team on Tuesday in Lower Parel, Central Mumbai, when they were collecting the first installment of the recovery amount.

What is the whole episode?

Officials said the women and the real estate developer met at a party on November 14th and had an argument. One of the women then threatened to implicate the developer's son in a false case. A few days later, the woman demanded ₹10 crore (100 million rupees) to settle the matter.

Following a request, the amount was reduced to ₹5.5 crore. The developer then filed a complaint. The complainant informed the Mumbai Police Crime Branch about the extortion demand.

It is noteworthy that the accused woman had demanded the first installment of ₹1.5 crore from the developer and was arrested while receiving it. Further investigation is underway.
